ChangeLog - CLOSED BETA - Version : QUALOR 2.0

We are glad to announce that since December, 21st 2022, the KCDC web portal has been updated to release QUALOR 2.0
In this release we added Event Displays for KASCADE and GRANDE events.
'Event Display' is a new plugin which enables the user to access more than 230.000 predefined events uniformly distributed over the respective measuring periods of the KASCADE and GRANDE detectors.
Moreover we offer four C++ programs via the 'Materials' menu with the help of which users should be able to generate their own Event Displays based on the data from the KCDC DataShop KASCADE, the Preselections and the Simulations.
For more details please check the 'EventDisplay-Manual'

All user accounts of users logged in within the last two years and their former requests as listed in 'Data Review' remained untouched.
Please do not hesitate to ask or to make suggestions how to improve our sites.

ChangeLog - CLOSED BETA - Version : SKARAGAN 2.0

The new url of the KCDC web site is now "kcdc.iap.kit.edu" because the name of the institute has changed to "Institute for Astroparticle Physics"

New & Modified Features

With the new release SKARAGAN 2.0 we updated all our software packages used. Furthermore, the offered simulations were supplemented by a further set, generated with the high-energy model SIBYLL. The outdated download procedure via ftp-download was replaced.

Sotware update

Based on the operating system UBUNT 20.04 LTS we now use:
  • • Django 3.1.4 ;
  • • PostgrSQL 12.6 ;
  • • nginx 1.18 ;
  • • Python 3.8.5 ;
  • • Celery 5.0.2 ;
  • • RabbitMQ 3.8.12 ;
  • • MongoDB 4.0.10 ;
  • • gunicorn 20-0-4 ;
  • • CERN ROOT 6.22/02 ;
  • • Javascript & jquery ;

  • Other changes

    Concerning the new download procedure, we completely removed the ftp-download, as it is not supported by modern Web browsers anymore. The download is now processed directly via https. This procedure is valid for all downloads (user requests, Preselections, Simulations, programming examples etc.).

    With this release we publish a new simulation set based on the cosmic ray event simulation package CORSIKA using the high-energy interaction model SIBYLL 2.3d with Fluka 2011 for particle energies below 200 GeV. The main change in the latest model is Sibyll 2.3d with regard to Sibyll 2.3c, is in the production of π0 in jets. In Sibyll 2.3c this production is strongly suppressed.

    The data privacy policy statements have been updated and integrated in the 'Head Menu' bar to be more accessible.

    User accounts
    • • the user accounts have been cleaned in the sense that the users database was cleared from all users without login after 1.1.2020. For the remaining users the accounts remained untouched. Their former requests as listed in 'Data Review' are still available unless the download permission is already expired;
